Geology Trip to Mono Lake

November 17, 2012

Laurie Munger's Geology class took its annual trip to Mono Lake last week. The students observed many geologic features along the way: Red Rock State Park, Fossil Falls and Red Hill (a cinder cone), the Alabama Hills, a 9000' lookout spot above the Owens Valley called Walt's Point, the Long Valley Caldera where Mammoth Lake is located, Mono Lake, Panum Crater, and numerous basalt flows and cones.  Laurie says, "We stayed at Ashley Johnson's '13 house in Mammoth which was warm, welcoming, and much appreciated!"  Click here to see photos.
