  • Associate Professor and State Extension Specialist for Community Forestry at the Penn State School of Forest Resources; teaches and writes about urban forest management, land use planning and regulatory policy, and human dimensions of natural resources

  • Past Chair of the Society of American Foresters' Urban Forestry Working Group, current member of the Society of American Foresters' National Science and Technology Board, and Ford Foundation Community Forestry Fellow

Jim Poett (Midland ’66)

  • Manager of Rancho San Julian’s 13,000 acres on the central coast, which has been placed in agricultural preserve status; expert in cattle management and conservation-minded grazing; first rancher in California to produce organic beef.

Mason Willrich (Midland ’50)

  • Former trustee and President of the Midland Board

  • Has worked in several capacities in the renewable energy business - Director of Evergreen Solar, Inc.; partner of Nth Power Technologies, Inc.; Chairman of the board of Energy Works, L.L.C.; former President and CEO of PG & E Enterprises

  • Has written or co-authored 9 books and numerous articles on energy policy, non-proliferation, and national security issues

  • J.D., UC Berkeley; Director for International Relations at the Rockefeller Foundation; Professor of Law at the University of Virginia; Assistant General Counsel of the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency

  • Appointed by Schwarzenegger to the Board of Governors of the California Independent System Operator, which operates the transmission grid for most of the state, assures nondiscriminatory access to generators, and approves projects to expand the grid to meet increasing demands for electric power in California.
