Faculty Sail on Tall Ship Bill of Rights |
To kick off the 2011-12 school year and faculty planning days, the Midland faculty sailed on the Bill of Rights, a Tall Ship out of the Channel Islands Harbor, and had the opportunity to raise and lower the sails and steer the ship, and had a wonderful time reconnecting with one another. (During Experiential Week last April 2011, the 9th grade class also sailed on the ship for an overnight trip where they learned sailing skills and worked together on the ship.) Upon returning to campus, a delectable authentic Mexican BBQ dinner was prepared by Miguel and Gloria Murillo, and a horse and roping show was performed by Hector and Raul Uribe.

Cory Cramer's Boat |
Faculty member Cory Cramer has been working on his Stitch and Glue Kayak. He built it last summer at the Chewonki Foundation in Maine. Although it didn't get to touch the waters of the West coast, he will bring it back East this summer and put it to good use.

Faculty Horseback Ride |
Periodically, faculty members have the opportunity to enjoy Midland via horseback on some of our gorgeous trails. In September, faculty members Donna Williams, Paul Gelles, Marguerite Graham and Jill Brady joined Celeste and Gillian on a "Faculty Ride." The Equestrian Program includes integrating faculty members into the mix to better understand and appreciate the program. Thank you Celeste and Gillian!

Great Teachers Doing More--A Slideshow |
One of the reasons students and families choose boarding schools, and in particular choose Midland School, is because of the range of compassionate and impassioned adults that help shepherd young people through adolescence. In this album, you'll see Midland's adults doing more than just teaching, even though everything we do here is part of the curriculum.
