College Placement

The goal of the Midland College Counseling Center is to help our students find the right college, one that fits each student's goals.  It is a comprehensive process that includes research, standardized testing, recommendations, and various other steps.  Our college counselor helps guide our students through this important process.   Please contact Lynda Cummings, our college counselor, if you have questions about the process. She is at phone extension 121.

Class of 2011 College Acceptances and Matriculations

Nationwide, the popularity of Gap Year programs is on the rise. The choices Midland seniors have made this year indicate that our students are part of this trend. Next year, our students will defer college for one year and attend Thinking Beyond Borders, Where There Be Dragons, and Leap Now. The traditional path, however, still dominates. Midland’s 21 seniors this year received 70 acceptances from the following list of 50 different colleges and universities across the nation. College Counselor Lynda Cummings met with the current seniors for the last time this year and gave them her parting words of wisdom before they head off to their various post-Midland experiences.

Acceptances, Matriculations

Colleges love a Midland application because they know that Midland candidates are already adept at being  self-driven scholars, can manage time effectively, and know how to take care of themselves.  PLUS, admissions people recognize that Midland graduates have done something truly remarkable for high school, and are not afraid of taking risks and challenges.  They know that the student will be well-rounded, a purposeful and productive member of their college community, and comfortable working with their professors.

Following is a list of colleges and universities that have enrolled Midland graduates from 2003-current:
Arizona, Arizona State U, Bard, Berry, Boston U, California College of the Arts, Cal Poly, Case Western, CSU Chico, CSU Humboldt, CSU San Francisco, Chapman, Clark, Colorado College, Colorado State, Columbia College, Covenant, Deep Springs, Dominican, Drew, Earlham, Emerson, Evergreen State, Goucher, Guilford, Hampshire, Lewis & Clark, Linfield, MICA, Montana State, NYU, Northeastern, Occidental, Oregon,OTIS, Parsons School of Design, Philadelphia U, Pitzer, Pratt, Princeton, Rocky Mtn.
